Remind 101

REMIND 101 Information

Hello Parents,

In today’s fast moving world smartphones have become a way of life. It seems that nearly every adult has one and most of your students also have them as well. In recent years education has been looking to find ways to take advantage of this technology while also keeping the safety of both teachers and students in mind. Remind 101 is an application for smartphones that I have downloaded and plan to implement this year in my Social Studies classes. The way it works is very simple: Below you will see a phone number. This is NOT my phone number, this is a random number generated by the application. By texting the message below to that number you will be allowing me to use Remind 101 to send you text messages with information about homework and upcoming tests, quizzes, and projects in my classes. The beauty of this system is that anyone getting the messages cannot text back and the application also keeps all phone numbers hidden and secure. That means that I have no idea what phone numbers were used to sign up for the texts.

The strength of this application is twofold: 1. You can signup with your own cell phone number and get updates and 2. Your student, if you allow it, can also sign up with their cell phone number (if they have one) and get reminders as well. Everything remains completely confidential: I will not see anyone’s name or number and in turn no one will have access to my cell phone number. The instructions to sign up are as follows:

To receive messages for Mr. Angeloni’s Social Studies classes text the following message: @mrangelon to 240-770-0026.

Thank you!
